Abstract
The effect of a comic on understanding of education about chemical process safety was studied. The comic was specially prepared for chemical process safety education. The study was carried out by hazard identification test and compared the results before and after the education with the comic. Before the education, most of the examinee found only hazards relating exposure of hazardous liquid while no hazard relating chemical process hazard was identified. After the education, 70.8% of examinee pointed the latent hazard of fire and explosion. The result suggests they understood the knowledge planned to be educated by the comic. The result, however, did not indicate which they obtained the knowledge by the comic or the comic reminded them of the knowledge. The result of the questioner on the comic showed relatively high score for understandability, applicability, and expectation for the next episode. The result exhibited the comic was well regarded as a tool for chemical process safety eduction.
