Abstract
Safety of massive hydrogen storage and transportation technology by Organic Chemical Hydride( OCH) method is reviewed. In the method, hydrogen is chemically fixed to toluene and converted to methylcyclohexane( MCH) which are component of gasoline. The potential risk of massive hydrogen storage and transportation can be reduced to conventional gasoline or crude oil by this method, since hydrogen is fixed to gasoline component chemically and storage and transportation as same as gasoline under ambient pressure and temperature in the liquid state. Chiyoda Corporation has established the system technology for massive hydrogen storage and transportation by OCH method through the novel dehydrogenation catalyst and process. In this paper, OCH method and status of the system is also introduced.
