Abstract

It has been shown that simple measurement by real-time monitoring can be applied to the evaluation of the permeation resistance of chemical protective gloves to mixed solvents 1) . In this study, the permeability of thin nitrile/neoprene multilayer rubber was tested by real-time monitoring for mixtures of many organic solvent combinations with different permeation rates, and it was found that some mixed solvents permeate faster than pure substance. The study was conducted to determine under what conditions the mixed solvents permeate faster than the pure material, and it was found that the mixed solvents (consisting of solvent 1 and solvent 2) that may permeate faster than the pure material have a solubility parameter of solvent 1 < solubility parameter of the chemical protection glove material (or solvent with shorter permeation)< solubility parameter of solvent 2. The solubility parameter was considered to be an important factor in the selection of suitable chemical protective gloves.
