Abstract

The ultimate bearing capacities of the different types of piles-wood piles, precast concrete piles, cast-in-place concrete piles and steel piles-were estimated by some relyable methods on the selected 160 field data of the pile loading tests.By the analysis of the relationship between the ultimate bearing capacity per unit cross-sectional area of each pile and the maximum settlement per unit length of each pile, some characteristics of the each pile type could be cleared.Besides the technical investigation, some economical survey was performed of the three pile types except wood pile. The authors consider that the technical and economical results might be some basic materials for the reasonable design of the piled foundation.
