Abstract
In attempt to examine the outcomes of Sandplay Therapy on young adults with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), we supplied 12 sessions of individual sandplay therapy for a young man diagnosed as OCD on scales named <Padua Inventory> and <Symptom Check List-90>. By using qualitative research method, we found four stages in the process of the patient’s sandplays. The patient showed a decrease in obsessive-compulsive symptoms after the treatment; his self-awareness became more congruent, objective, rational and accepting. As a result, we summarized the therapeutic mechanism of sandplay therapy for OCD. This treatment outcome study provides a potiential new choice for other therapists to treat OCD patients.
