The intermediates of Hp-Hb complex were analysed by polyacrylamide gel crosselectrophoresis with hemoglobin. By this method, we could detect the number of intermediates of haptoglobin polymers, especialy from trimer to pentamer. These polymers were bound with the equal molar content of hemoglobin. We experienced the haptoglobin variants, Hp Johnson and Carlberg types detecting the phenotypes for the quantitative analysis of haptoglobin. And we investigated the binding ability of these variants using this cross electrophoresis.
