III. Isoelectric focusing of a system composed exclusively of proteins

Abstract

Our computer simulation procedure was applied to isoelectric focusing of a system composed exclusively of proteins. Proteins differing in pI more than 0.1 lined up in the order of their pI from anode toward cathode under appropriate initial conditions of electrophoresis. This mode of separation may be called“zero velocity isotachophoresis”, which will be applicable to preparative separation of proteins.
