Surgical Technique and Perioperative Management of Superficial Temporal Artery to Middle Cerebral Artery Anastomosis and Encephalo-duro-myo-arterio-pericranial Synangiosis for Moyamoya Disease

Abstract

This article reviews historical aspects of surgical revascularization for moyamoya disease and the concept of indirect, direct, and combined bypass surgery. The article also precisely describes the surgical technique and perioperative management of superficial temporal artery to middle cerebral artery (STA-MCA) anastomosis and encephaloduromyoarteriopericranial synangiosis (EDMAPS) based on the author's 18-year experience.
