Abstract
Desired properties for plastic materials used for optical lenses are high transparency, high refractive index, low birefringence, and good transcription. In the lens injection molding, in order to improve transparency, a good mold-release characteristic is required. In this study, the effect of mold surface treatment for injection molding of fluorene-based polyester (FBP) was evaluated by angle-of-contact measurement. And it is more desirable to use melted resin rather than water as the medium of angle-of-contact measurement.
Moreover, two kinds of surface treatment affecting the mold-release characteristic of FBP were found out from the result of lens injection molding. Moreover, the forming stability at the time of continuous molding was verified using the metallic mold coated on the surface.
