Abstract

We have found that fluoropolymer molded products can increase density by electron beam irradiation. As a result of detailed examination focusing mainly on Tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether copolymer (PFA), we obtained high-density products which could not be attained even with extended heat treatment. Particularly concerning PFA in which the terminal group was completely fluorinated, the density increased remarkably. Heat treatment after electron beam irradiation resulted in higher density. PFA with high density had the effect of improving the gas barrier property and reducing the chemical liquid permeability.
