Abstract

In this report, we focused on the comparison between the results studied using the Finite Element Method (FEM) and experimental tests under static compression, with regard to cylindrical molding of thermoplastic elastomers. We attempted to analytically model with a great deal of precision in non-linear properties due to buckling and contact in the large deformation region.
The following results were obtained;
(1) For large deformation behavior which was accompanied by buckling of the thermoplastic elastomer molding, the validity of the modeling using the elasto-plastic constitutive law was shown.
(2) The load-displacement behavior of different cylindrical molding shapes was reproduced by FEM.
(3) Changes in the outer diameter of the cylindrical molding was also considered by using FEM, and the deformation behavior within the molding where observation was experimentally difficult was also analyzed.
