Abstract

   In order to investigate the noise generated from a car gap of Shinkansen train, we performed numerical simulation of unsteady flow field by using Large Eddy Simulation. First, we performed LES with simplified element model. Transformation of the eddies at the downstream edge which is the source of the noise was captured. Also, we computed the radiated sound by using Curle's equation, and the frequency of the noise capture by the resolution of the grids was estimated. Then, we performed Car-Gap model calculation with 150 Million grids which has same resolution of element model. The result agrees quantitatively with the measured noise.
