Construction projects require the exchange of information between members. Previous research works proposed the use of Web-based databases to achieve efficient information management. However, they failed to acknowledge Web-based social network communities, which may provide valuable features for information management. This paper proposes that the Web-based SNC paradigm be studied to identify how it may be adopted by the construction industry. The use of Web-based technology for increased accessibility and multimedia organization tools like tags provide means for identifying and classifying information. However, the needs of the construction industry should be considered before attempting to apply the social networking paradigm. [This abstract is not included in the PDF]
