Abstract

In this paper, an investigation on building-decrepitude due to damp and dryness was conducted. And a desiccant air-conditioning system was proposed as preventive policy for building-decrepitude.
In hot and humid climates, dew condensation can induce proliferation of microbe, mold and white ant; those are decisive culprits for building-decrepitude. As part of the solution, a batch-type desiccant air-conditioning system for detached houses was proposed and its operating mode and characteristics were reported. In order to estimate the performance of the proposed system, numerical analysis models were developed. By coupling simulation with numerical analysis models, the humidification-heating performance and the dehumidification-cooling performance of the proposed system was evaluated.
