Abstract
Chiba Experiment Station, the place of origin of IIS has the glorious past to develop many actual size works and prototyping for innovation. Its function was transferred from its birthplace to Kashiwa new campus. We designed a new big experiment room as a contemporary "intermediate factory" in order to evolve the functions.
Realizing a large experiment space, we have prepared several research buildings and a big roof connecting them. Below the large roof, XY crane for transporting, seismic shaking table, independence foundation, vehicle test laboratory, etc. are equipped and support innovation by oversize research activities. Through the void spaces between research blocks and from the pedestrian bridge over the big space, the researchers and visitors are able to observe the research activities.
