Abstract
Ruthenium/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by impregnation of RuCl3 with Al2O3, followed by calcination at 573K. The catalyst (0.5g) was introduced into autoclave and reduced at 443K for 4 hours under 2MPa of H2 and then, after introducing hexadecane (10ml) as solvent, the Fischer Tropsch (FT) reaction was carried out at 523K and 2.4MPa (H2/CO/N2 = 1.4/0.7/0.3 (MPa)). The chain length distribution of FT products obtained on Ru catalysts can be best represented by Anderson-Schulz-Flory (ASF)- distributions and the estimated chain growth propability as well as CO conversion and C5+ selectivity were dependent on the calcination temperature between 373K and 773K; The highest values were achieved at 573K. The catalyst performances were affected by various kinds of Al2O3 supports and gaseous compositions.
