Abstract
The catalytic activities of noble metals (NM; Ru, Pt, Rh, Pd, Ir) supported on aluminum-pillared clay montmorillonite (Al-PILM) for hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of thiophene were examined. It was found that reduced Rh/Al-PILM catalyst showed higher activity among various NM/Al-PILM catalysts and this activity was higher than that of CoMo/Al2O3 catalyst. Furthermore, the HDS activities of bimetallic Pt with Pd (Pt : Pd = 3 : 1) catalysts were examined. The HDS activity of sulfided PtPd/Al-PILM catalyst was higher than those of Rh/Al-PILM and CoMo/2O3 catalysts.
