Abstract
A tolerance of MgO covered with Al2O3 to water and CO2 was studied. The base catalytic activity of Al2O3/MgO was strongly depressed by coexisting water or CO2. The activity of Al2O3/MgO used for the decomposition of diacetonealcohol with H2O was recovered by washing with acetone. The activity of catalyst exposing to CO2 was recovered by treatment of heating, followed by exposing to water, and heating again. It was concluded that the tolerance of MgO to water and CO2 was extremely increased by covered with Al2O3.
