Super-low friction by running-in control with surface texture

Abstract

Low-viscosity liquid has been expected as promising lubricant showing low friction if it would show high loading capacity. In case of friction system of silicon carbide in water, super-low friction and  high loading capacity are realized by introducing optimum surface texture.Based on the knowledge, a guideline for design of the surface texture from viewpoint of running-in is proposed to realise both super-low friction and high loading capacity in friction system with low-viscosity liquid.
