Abstract
In situ observation of EHL film was carried out with micro-FTIR. It was confirmed from the observation that the concentration of oil from O/W emulsion increased at the entrance of Hertian contact. It was found that the concentration at the entrance was affected by entrainment velocity, oil concentration in emulsion and type of emulsifier. The oil concentration at the entrance was also dependent on the hydrophobicity of emulsifier, the higher the hydrophobicity the higher the concentration, In conclusion, oil film thickness at the Hertian contact is controlled by the oil concentration at the entrance,
