Abstract
Dendrimers are monodispers, highly ordered, hyperbranched oligomeric and three-dimensional macrostructures. The pseudospherical shapes of a dendrimers arise from their structures, which consists of a central core, which is connected to repeating units constituting a radial branching pattern. The properties of dendrimers are their controllable size and good solubility in a large range of organic solvents, which make them suitable for use as soluble supports for the anchoring of orgno-catalytic moiety such as metallic complex. If dendrimers with large molecular size can be prepared by the repetitive synthetic reactions, these can be isolated from organic solvents by membrane filtration. Hence dendrimer has a possibility as a catalyst which has the melits of both homogenous and heterogenous catalyst.
