Synthesis of Pd nanoparticle-encapsulated hollow silicas using aminopolymer as a template and its application in selective hydrogenation of alkynes

Abstract

Hollow silica containing polyethyleneimine (PEI) and Pd nanoparticles was synthesized using PEI as an organic template. The synthesized catalyst exhibited high alkene selectivity in the hydrogenation of alkynes, and was reusable with retaining its selectivity. The kind of PEI and the thickness of silica shell were controlled, and their effects on nanostructures and catalytic performances were investigated.
