The purpose of this study is to construct an international scale to assess how strongly a sentence emphasizes the risk of chemicals. First, 30 kinds of Japanese text representation relating to beauty and cosmetics were examined and the score was compared with that of Chinese version. As a result, high correlation was observed between the two countries. Subsequently, six items were chosen as a standard scale on the basis of closeness between Japanese scores and Chinse ones. Risk emphasis score of Japanese books was evaluated using the standard scale, and the result showed that the risk of surfactant tends to be emphasized in Japanese books and the risk of mercury tended to be emphasized in Chinese books.
