Abstract

There are many kinds of lace curtains with the heat-blocking effect against sunlight in the market. Since the index and evaluation method is not established for heat-blocking effect of lace curtains, some inspection institutes and companies conduct tests using different own methods. In order to the consumers get correct information on heat-blocking effect of lace curtain, the unified standard is needed. In this study, we have developed the test device and the evaluation method for heat-blocking effect of lace curtains, and the availability were researched using 30 kinds of over-thecounter lace curtains of the various patterns. The solar light similar to the sunlight were used as a light source, heat flow through lace curtains were measured by temperature increase of a black copper plate in the test box. Results by using our method indicated high precision and repeatability, therefore we have concluded that this is a high-reliable method to evaluate the heat-blocking effect of lace curtains.
