Abstract
As the first step for the present study, an attempt was made to estimate the ‘standardized clothing value (SCV) ’ in which the bias due to the effects of ambient temperature and physiological human factors has been eliminated from actual clothing value.
Field surveys were carried out involving Japanese school pupils, office workers and English office workers during winter in both Osaka and Guildford, United Kingdom, from which a total of 2554 effective respondents were obtained and the data taken from them were used for this analysis.
For each group of respondents an equation for estimating the ‘SCV’ was led out by means of multiple regression analysis, and we could confirm the validity of the ‘SCV’ calculations applying it to a few examples. Considerable individual differences still existed in terms of the ‘SCV’ although it was less than that for the actual clothing values.
