Abstract
The fading behaviors of six vinylsulfonyl (VS) reactive dyes on cotton fabrics estimated by the ‘A’ method of JIS L 0888 using various kinds of artificial perspiration were analyzed by the fading mechanism of VS dyes on cellophane examined by the exposure in aqueous solutions containing oxygen and substrates in this series of studies. In general, the oxidative fading on cotton fabrics occurred mainly in the initial period of exposure, while the reductive one in the following period of exposure when there were sufficient amounts of substrate on fabrics. The artificial perspiration of JIS L 0848 gave a small reductive fading.
The defects of the testing method of JIS L 0888 for the simultaneous effect of light and perspiration were extracted according to the analysis of fading behaviors on fabrics.
