Operations research on the North-West Monsoon in the Tsugaru-Strait

Abstract

Detailed analysis on the characteristics of the Winter North-West Monsoon in the Tsugaru-Strait has been given (in Table 1). During four winter months, November to February, mean frequency of cold outburst of North-West winds over 10 m/sec (10 minutes intervals) is about 34, whose mean duration is high as 29 hours; so that during 37 per cent of the whole four winter months gales over 10 m/sec prevail in the Tsugaru-Strait.
