Abstract
A new composite nanofiltration hollow fiber membrane was developed. A thin polyamide layer was formed on the outer surface of the membrane by a novel interfacial polymerization procedure, using a fluorocarbon solvent, which is neither miscible with an aqueous amine solution nor an organic acid chloride solution. After immersion in the aqueous amine solution, the membrane was passed through the fluorocarbon solvent and finally immersed in the organic acid chloride solution. The new composite hollow fiber membrane showed a performance comparable with those of flat membranes prepared by conventional interfacial polymerization.
