Abstract

This study was examined the impact of the provision of environmental information on the consumers purchase decision to buy electronic appliances such as televisions or refrigerators. We are focusing on the obvious way to consider environmental information in the decision-making process for consumers purchasing. From the result of the questionnaire survey, respondents are interested in environmental information associated with electric consumption as well as the product information like as size, capacity, or price. Through the interview survey, it clarified that consumers don’t take an interest at every stage of making decision. Moreover, a suitable stage that environmental information is able to be reflected were different with each interviewee, and information resources used as a tool for collecting environmental information also differed with each other. Therefore, in order to offer environmental information more effectively, the adequate contents containing environments and the appropriate information sources are suggested in each decision making process. Based on these results, a framework for the effective provision of environmental information considering the flow of information collection and the consumers’ buying decision process was proposed.
