Abstract

A green tuff is a mineral resource that has adsorption performance of humidity and chemical substances for humidity regulation and sick house syndrome. A slab made of the green tuff produced in Akita prefecture, Japan, is popularly utilized for interior materials such as walls and floors. On the other hand, authors developed a new functional wall material containing the rock dust of the green tuff. This wall material made from the rock dust of the green tuff will be constructed more easily and also have performances above. In this study, performances of humidity regulation, adsorption of chemical substances and antimold of the wall material were estimated. Each Performance of the wall containing the green tuff were better than that of a wall containing sand, which was general material for wall material. Especially, the durability of adsorption of chemical substances of this wall was better than that of a wall made from diatomite that was known as a high performance wall material. These results show that the rock dust of the green tuff is useful for functional wall material.
