Abstract
It is difficult to dynamically evaluate the thermal-mixing loss and gain for an office space on the basis of experiments and field measurements, since the phenomenon is complicated and unsteady because of outdoor weather conditions, air-conditioning settings, and so forth. In this research, an unsteady state experiment was conducted for an office space, and the prediction accuracy of an HVAC performance simulator was verified for both an HVAC system and indoor environment by comparing the accuracy with the results obtained in this experiment. According to the time history of wind-velocity vectors and temperature distributions at the boundary between the interior zone and perimeter zone, the dynamic characteristics of the thermal-mixing loss and gain were clarified. An analysis introducing a control technique for the thermal-mixing loss was also performed, and the validity of this control technique was verified.
