Abstract

This study aims to reveal the advantage of district heating and cooling system (DHC) utilizing cogeneration system (CGS) in energy efficiency. Introduction of large-scale CGS gives unique advantage to DHC, and it is expected to contribute to energy-saving dramatically. The simulation results show that DHC could retain its energy-saving aspect in the future by introducing CGS that has high generating efficiency and high-efficiency turbo refrigerator for increasing the operation hour of CGS. However, these results depend on future technical developments and evaluating method of exhaust heat from CGS. Hence further study is required.
