Abstract

This study is to report the floor radiant cooling and heating system using geothermal energy, which is applied in an elementary school in Hokuriku district. In the classroom area, radiating piping is equipped in the floor slab. Chilled/ warm water circulates through those piping and can reduce/ increase the floor surface temperature. Combination of this radiant cooling/ heating and natural ventilation achieves human-friendly cooling and heating system. Heat source of chilled water for floor cooling and heat pump is geothermal energy through radial well heat exchanger installed in the shallow aquifer.
