Abstract

Field experiments have been carried out in the Hokkaido region with Ground Snow Melting Tanks (GSMT). Larger amount of snow can be charged by the use of shower. The total amount of snow melting is around 15.3 tons in 39 days when snow is shoveled periodically by a snow blower with the shower and nearly filled in the GSMT. The result of a numerical calculation indicates that the use of the shower can increase the snow melting performance.
