Abstract

Gold contents have been determined on 175 Jurassic and Cretaceous plutonic rocks from the southern part of Korea by the method of graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy.
The results are as follows; (1) for the Jurassic gabbroids, the range is 0.3-1.9 ppb and the average is 0.6 ppb; (2) for the Jurassic diorites, the range is 0.5-1.7 ppb and the average is 0.8 ppb; (3) for the Jurassic granitoids, the range is 0.4-7.0 ppb and the average is 1.8 ppb; (4) for the Cretaceous granitoids, the range is 0.5-7.4 ppb and the average is 2.8 ppb. The gold content of Jurassic and Cretaceous plutonic rocks of Korea tends to increase from mafic rocks to felsic rocks, and that of Cretaceous granitoids is slightly higher than that of Jurassic ones. Average gold content of the studied rocks tends to show positive correlations with average Se, Te and TI content, but negative correlation with average Ag content except that of diorites.
