Abstract

We studied on the reducibilities of the several zinc compounds such as zinc oxide (ZnO), zinc-ferrite (ZnFe2O4), zinc-ferrous-silicate (ZnFeSiO4) and zinc-silicate (Zn2SiO4) which were considered to be existed in lead smelter slag, under CO atmosphere. The samples and carbon powder were mixed with or without CaCO3. Under these conditions, ZnO, ZnFe2O4, ZnFeSiO4, and Zn2SiO4were reduced completely at about 800°, 920°, 1, 050°, and over 1, 150° respectively. By the results of the reducibility of zinc compound in lead slag of Kamioka Smelter, we considered that the greater part of zinc compound contained in slag was zinc-ferrous-silicate.
