We examined the background chatacteristics and the use of the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) apparatus for sleep apnea syndrome (SAS). Nineteen patients who received CPAP therapy for SAS over three months were recruited for this study. The good control group, which was defined as having a mean apnea hypopnea index (AHI) under five, was significantly correlated with the number of days the CPAP apparatus was used for more than four hours each day, and with the fraction of patients using the device for more than four hours each day during more than seventy percent of all use days by the χ2 test and by multivatiate analysis. Both factors correlated independently with the use of CPAP therapy. Shika Igaku (J Osaka Odontol Soc) 2023; Sep; 86(2): 111-114.
