Abstract

Synthesis and properties of titanium chelates coordinated with 2-hydroxy-N- (6-chloro-2-hydroxybenzylidene) anilines and their naphthyl derivatives were investigated.
In the titanium chelate with 6-chlorobenzylidene anilines, the thermal stability increased by the introduction of nitro group into the aromatic ring, while it decreased by the introduction of methyl group. This thermal stability was related to the solubility : a chelate having higher solubility showed lower thermal stability.
In the titanium chelate with naphthyl derivatives, the absorption maxima and absorption edge showed fairly red shift greater than the corresponding phenyl derivatives. These chelates showed lower solubility but higher decomposition temperature as high as that of phenyl derivatives.
