Calcination of a zirconium-O-phenylene-S-tin hybrid copolymer at 400-800°C under an argon atmosphere were performed. Calcined materials were found to be composed of nano-sized ZrO2 and SnS particles in the matrix of carbon clusters. ESR spectral examinations showed that the calcined materials had a photoresponsive oxidation-reduction function via a two-step electron transport process of ZrO2→carbon clusters→SnS→carbon clusters.
