Examination of weekly plans using stickers and their reflections on childcare practices

Abstract

Childcare practices in daycare centers require a systematic understanding of children's development, and records and evaluations play an important role in this process. However, many on-site childcare workers are not good at making records, making it difficult to look back and make improvements. Therefore, we conducted a training program in which the weekly plan was used as an opportunity to reflect and link it to childcare practices. During the training, participants reflected on the weekly plan using stickers. As a result, participants were able to implement all of the content from the second week onward, and changes were observed in the frequency and content of implementation. Previously, participants could only check the implementation of group activities, and arts and crafts activities were put on the back burner. However, with the use of stickers, participants were able to implement arts and crafts activities within a set weekly schedule. In addition, content and episodes were connected, enabling them to implement childcare practices in line with their objectives. In addition, the time required for checking and visualizing records was reduced, and as a result, information sharing with the director became smoother.
