Development of Security System for Bathroom

Abstract

Recently, the domestic incidence of sudden deaths has been increased in Japan. We have developed a sensing system for finding people’s paroxysm accidents in bathroom. To get the breath information of the person, the system utilizes fiber grating (FG) sensor that we have developed. By this sensor, the system enabled surveillance a person in the bathroom without invading his privacy. We applied the system to actual bathroom, and performed an experiment assuming various situations in the bathroom. In this experiment, we ascertained that the system was able to detect person’s breath and give an alarm appropriately in case of danger.
