Abstract
This paper describes a new design of a miniature tactile device that is driven by bimorph piezoelectric actuators. A pin drive mechanism was improved to increase the numbers of vibratory pins. Forty-four pins are arranged within an acrylic structure by a 2-mm pitch. We measured the amplitude of vibratory pin at various frequencies and duty ratios. Regarding frequency dependency we found the maximum amplitude at 290 Hz as the natural frequency. In addition, the amplitude was successfully controlled by the duty ratio.
