Abstract
One of the authors formerly reported that in case of reflux manipulation, equivalent dead time in temperature response of binary distillation column increases as temperature detector goes lower and that equivalent time constant has almost same value on any tray. From this fact, it can be easily expected that simple on-off control mode gives satisfactory results when temperature detector is installed on the upper tray. Presented in this paper are both experimental and theoretical data on proportional and onoff controls. It was proved that on-off control gives satisfactory results. Experimental values on temperature cycling fairly coincide with theoretical ones.
