Abstract
This paper puts together our studies on analysis and design of water distribution networks (WDN's). The topics are as follows: 1) a generalized graph-theoretic approach to WDN's, 2) generalization of steady-state flow calculation, 3) design of newly-constructed networks considering the supply stability, 4) design for expansion of existing networks, and 5) design of networks with multiple loadings.
That is, a relatively wide scope of problems including new ideas to this field are studied; nevertheless, for all the problems, the mesh-flow rate is chosen as the main variable and concise formulations are given by a common procedure, which improves greatly the efficiency of the solution. In consequence, powerful and practical methods are developed for the analysis and design, with an excellent applicability to large-scale networks.
