Abstract

The use of genetic algorithms to solve various problems in control engineering is described. It is demonstrated that this genetic methodology can be used both to explore a number of fundamental problems in control theory and also to solve a number of practical design problems. This demonstration of the powers of genetic design methodology is proffered in the belief that control engineering is being revolutionised by an increasing pre-occupation with the emulation of biological processes.
