Abstract
A particulate matter in indoor environments is generally measured based on a physical quantity that is dependent on a particle diameter. This article describes firstly a mass concentration measuring method used in the measurements of atmospheric air/indoor air quality concentrations through two measurement methods: a filter weighing method regarded as a standard measurement method; and a simplified measurement method that can be used at measurement sites. Secondly, it presents a typical method for measuring number concentration used for evaluating air cleanliness. In addition, classifying principle and measuring methods using electrical mobility of particles and particle inertial forces are explained. This is an explanation of a classifying method to classify particles by particle size and weight. Lastly, looking ahead to the future, new possibilities of measuring through the integration with IoT technology are introduced.
