Automated vehicles have the potential to transform the world's road transportation system. Expected benefits include traffic safety, transport network efficiency, energy/emissions, and personal mobility. Furthermore, as the existing transport systems are complex, prior to implementation, automated vehicle technology must be understood and its effects carefully predicted prior to implementation to plan for that transformation. This article introduces the international activities of SIP-adus with regards to assessing the impact of automated vehicles from the following three perspectives: the Trilateral Impact Assessment Sub-Group for ART, as well as both safety and socioeconomic impacts.
