The evaluation of the social and economic impact of automated driving is extremely important in terms of fostering social acceptance, government policy making, and application to corporate management regarding automated driving. Based on this recognition, the purpose of this paper is to present an overview of "Study of socioeconomic impacts of automated driving including traffic accident reduction" and its successor project, "Research on assessment of the impact of automated driving on society and the economy and on measures to promote deployment." This paper first introduces two models (dynamic model and static model) of the "diffusion simulation" of automated vehicles, which is the basis of the socioeconomic impact assessment, following overview of the impact assessment on road traffic, transportation services, and industry and society, which were conducted using the results of the diffusion simulation.
