Abstract
We report an 87-year-old man with squamous cell carcinoma on his right cheek with histological findings of partial pseudoglandular structure. The tumor enlarged rapidly. Histological analysis revealed that the tumor consisted of irregular masses of epidermal cells which proliferated downward into the dermis, and some parts of the tumor consisted of pseudoglandular structure with acantholytic, dyskeratotic cells. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for cytokeratin and the lower parts of the tumor cells were positive for vimentin. But the tumor cells were negative for CEA, CD34, S-100, HMB-45, cytokeratin20 and PSA. We diagnosed this tumor as squamous cell carcinoma. We distinguished this tumor from pseudoglandular squamous cell carcinoma and acantholytic squamous cell carcinoma. [Skin Cancer (Japan) 2006; 21: 211-214]
