Abstract
We report a 55-year-old man who presented with mucinous carcinoma of the skin on his left cheek. The lesion had been growing for five years. Dermatological examination revealed a dark-red nodule, which had developed on the elevated tumor, l8 mm in diameter. Histological examination showed that the tumor was exclusively dermal and subcutaneous without connection to the overlying epidermis. Floating epithelial nests in mucin lakes containing ductal structure, and decapitation secretion were observed. The tumor cell contained an atypical nucleus, and was positive for PAS and mucicarmine. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the tumor cells were positive for EMA, CK7, GCDFP-15, and negative for CK20. The Ki-67 positive rate was 6.1% in the tumor cells. On gastro-intestinal fiberscopy and CT scans of the neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis, no neoplasm was detected. There has been no evidence of tumor recurrence or metastasis four years after surgery.
